I have classes throughout the week and  currently teach all  levels of Yoga, details below...

What is yoga.

Physical benefits.
Yoga is an ancient practice that helps create a sense of union between body, mind and spirit and it brings balance into our lives.

Why choose yoga over other forms of exercise.
The practice of yoga is unique and different from other physical exercises because the yoga postures and breathing while beneficial to muscle and bone, also work into your organs and glands. When you practice yoga on a regular basis your body grows strong, toned and more flexible. Yoga postures lengthen into the muscles so you will never build up "bulk" around the shoulders, but as you work with the physical side of your yoga practice your body will become slender and toned.

Mental benefits.
The breathing techniques used in yoga help you to relax and de-stress, you will learn how to relax your mind so you can focus your enegry where you want it to go. By increasing the length of your breath, you are using your lungs to their best potential, therefore improving respiration, moving enegry around the body and increasing vitality.

Spirtual benefits.
Yoga builds awareness of your body and you accept not to push your body into postures beyond your limits, but over time you will even go beyond these limits by listening to your body and allowing it to stretch slowly. You will also learn to live in the moment and enjoy your life.

 Level one:  Beginners.

Gentle class suitable for beginners, This level is a lovely way to begin to bring movement into your body and you start off by allowing your body to go just within your limits  with gentle stretches and movements. My yoga flows programme for beginners is an arrangment of flowing movements which works into all the muscles in the body, releasing out stiffness and bringing more flexibility into your body. Yoga is non competitive so in my classes I use props to help people to reach a level of  flexibilty that they are happy with.

Breath awareness:  Learn how to use your breath to keep you calm and stress free. You will soon see the benefits of this wonderfull practice. By increasing oxygen into your body, you will create a balance between the in and the out breath, this helps to reduce your heart rate, therefore lowering blood pressure and allowing more enegry into your body, reduce stress and create a balance in your nervous system. You will also strengthen your lungs and use them to their full potential. Each class will finish with a guided relaxation to help you to wind down and completely let go. At the end of each yoga class you will feel relaxed but refreshed.
Level one is suitable for all ages and levels of fitness.

Level 2:  Intermediate.

This level is suitable for the majority of people who want to build on their level of fexibility. Anybody who has completed a twelve week beginners class or is reasonbally fit will enjoy the intermediate yoga flows. We work into a deep continuous breath and begin using the bandas  enegry locks). My intermediate yoga flows programme is quite strong and you will really see an increased level of muscle tone and enegry in a short time. As you advance in your yoga practice, you will also enjoy the yoga nidra (relaxation) at the end of the class.

Level 3:  Dynamic Sports Yoga Flow.

Suitable for sports people or people who are looking to raise their flexibility and energy a notch or two.!
This level will also suit people who have Yoga experience, such as Ashtanga. The class flows for the duration working strongly into the core muscles and engaging the bandas

I have developed a dynamic Yoga flow, which involves flowing in and out of postures to release tension in the body and some repeated sequences to improve flexibility, which can help avoid injury during any athletic endeavours. Yoga practice lengthens into the muscles and especially the hip flexors, which can become quite short as a result of tight hamstrings. Sometimes training in a specific sport can make you physically unbalanced as you work one side of the body more than the other side. However, Yoga can regain that balance by a combination of forward folds, back arches, side stretches and lunges, breathing techniques and relaxation.

Athletes are beginning to realise the benefits of the breathing techniques and stretches that are practiced in Yoga. Part of my programme involves grounding and breathing techniques that increase concentration and help people become focused on their goals. My sports programme is designed to cater for all types of sports people both men and women and I always ensure that people who are having difficulty in a particular posture will only allow their bodies to stretch and lengthen in a safe way with the use of bolsters, belts and blocks. At the moment I have two sports classes running which include soccer players, hurlers, tennis players and triathlon runners and am getting great results from everybody.

All Male class

This class gives Men the opportunity to discover the great benefits of yoga in their own zone.  In our modern Lives, men are under pressure and stress and are looking for ways to stay calm and stay heathy at the same time.  As yoga becomes main-stream, doctors and pysiotherapists are recommending yoga as the perfect antidote to stress and ill-health.   Men as well as women should improve breathing patterns, flexibility and relaxation techniques, but sometimes men don't feel comfortable in a mixed class.  My class for men includes stretching and lengthening of muscles, working into the core muscles and strengthening the muscles of the back. Working into specific areas such as shoulders and hamstrings, correct breathing techniques to increase vitality and relaxation to de-stress.

The Missing Link Sports Programme

This programme is designed especially for Athletes who want to improve on their over all fitness and belief in themselves. Please see Sports Page for all details on my Missing Link Programme.
